Queen of Hearts

29/04/2011

Its been said a million times already, but oh my god, didn't Miss Catherine Middleton (now Catherine, Duchess of Cambridge) look stunning as she entered Westminster Abbey!

Sigh... What a beautiful dress. I have always loved lace, and I especially like the heart shaped corset and bustle... It's simply the perfect wedding dress. It is timeless.
I have been on the lookout for years for a Grace Kelly inspired dress and Kate has the winner. The lace is just gorgeous, very much like Grace but with a modern twist, the sleek skirt is just perfection. Even the bouquet is similar!

Alexander McQueen was a perfect choice and a great tribute to him. I am sure he would have been very proud to have dressed the future Queen of England.

What a perfect Fairytale wedding!

Now for some big photos!

“Who’s the blonde girl?”

Andrej Pejic

Isn't he the most beautiful man?

Andrej Pejic

Andrej Pejic is a recent sensation in the modelling world, able to effortlessly walk both the mens and womens catwalks (seen above in Jean Paul Gaultier Haute Couture as 'The Bride') as well as landing a lot of fashion press coverage.

I have to say, this guy is one good looking chic. Then again when he walks for mens clothes...theres just something about him. He is a very interesting model!

(Paul Smith's Fall/Winter 2011/12)

So which does he prefer – men’s or women’s? “I’m comfortable doing both, although womenswear is more glamorous. The clothes are more exciting. In menswear I have to work more at having a masculine presence. But then that’s my job."

'It's about blurring the boundaries... He makes people open their eyes'

STORM

Currently at number 11 in the 50 top male models, Andrej looks set to have a great year ahead of him. His agency sums him up best;

"Andrej, in a few short months has become the face of a new sort of male beauty, the kind that sparks comments, controversies and intense scrutiny. With a top notch editorial portfolio and a slew of the blue chip campaigns, look for Andrej's stock to rise even higher in 2011." (models.com)

Long Time No BLOG!

Indeed, I haven't blogged since March, so we could be in for a long one.

A lot has happened, but at the same time pretty much nothing has changed.
I am now 22, which is pretty depressing for me. When I imagined myself in my 20's I imagined a lot more than this. Something in my favour, 90% of people don't believe me when I tell them my age, I guess I look like a kid still.
But hey ho and on with the show.

I was talking of essays last time I blogged and I managed to get them all done on time. I recently found out that I got three 1st's on those essays, including the one i worked for about a month on about musicians suicides. So i am pretty happy since i worked so hard, and got to write about something i have been into since i was about 12. I have some kind of morbid obsession with dead celebrities, i just get sucked into finding out every detail of their lives and why they would kill themselves, or die. I guess its like a hobby of some kind. I blame my mum for loving Freddie Mercury when i was growing up. My own obsessions started obviously with Nirvana and Kurt Cobain when i was 12 (10 years ago now - depressing).
I ended up writing about 3000 words when the limit was 2000, luckily my teacher isn't too strict. I could easily write it all again, and more.
I wrote about Ian Curtis, Kurt Cobain and Richey Edwards.

Photobucket

It was alot of fun, I love all of them and their music, but it was also a bit depressing. Getting into their mindset wasn't the happiest of places. Perhaps i will post up my essay here sometime, i'll think about it.
Now i have the task of thinking of what i am going to write 8000 words about in my final year...

I have been reading a lot of Hunter S Thompson lately, (who also committed suicide - hmm) which i have been meaning to do for a good few years now. I just read The Rum Diary, and i'm almost done reading Hells Angels now too. I will be moving onto The Gonzo Papers Vol. 1 next.
The Rum Diary wasn't a particularly exciting or groundbreaking story, but i loved every page of it. Hunters style of writing is definitely the one for me. He wrote the book when he was 22 (my age - depressing) and i just fell in love with him. It follows his time as a writer in Puerto Rico. I highly recommend it as a great summer read. I imagined i was on a nice beach somewhere reading it instead of at home in canterbury in my bed. I cant wait to see the movie - naturally Johnny Depp is playing him. (I say him, it written about someone else, but you can clearly see it is based on Hunter)

Movie wise, I have seen most of the films on my previous blog post list. I badly want to see the hangover. I recently watched Revolutionary Road and was pleasantly surprised. I wasn't expecting to enjoy it as much as i did. Leonardo and Kate did a great job and they work great together, a believable couple. I am going to watch the films Good and Angels and Demons tonight, hopefully they will be enjoyable too.

In other news i still dig Alexa Chung.
She has had a haircut since my last blogs about her. exciting stuff. She also now has moved to Williamsburg, NY and has her own show on MTV called It's on With Alexa Chung. I think every weekday at 12. I haven't had a chance to see it since its not shown in England, but i havent heard anything bad. MTV cleverly realised how many people follow her style and post up a list id-ing her outfit everyday. I have only really liked one oufit so far which is this one:

alexa show

A cute navy blue dress, a cream cardi and black flats. simple as always but very wearable.
A few of her outfits in the past few months have been total misses for me, but i really like this Burberry number she wore to a Burberry party in NY:

alexa

I love it all...except for the boots. I love this silver dress. If only I could afford Burberry...

what else is there to say...
I really looking forward to going to Reading this year. i'm not sure whos going with me yet but i hope someone does, it'd suck to be there alone.

reading 2009
I missed the AWESOME lineup last year, which i dont like thinking about lol, because i had spent all my money on a road trip in America which was also awesome, but im still sad i missed reading. this year will be my 4th year going.
Im mostly looking forward to see KOL, MSTRKRFT, Arctic Monkeys and Vampire Weekend.

I think thats all i have to say right now. This is a pretty long post now, so i think ill leave it here with some of Ian Curtis lyrics.

Love will tear us apart
Till Next time.

Hello Internet, Its me

So today I thought to myself, you know what, I should make a blog... so here it is. I have no idea if i will keep it up for long, but we shall see.

I have a few obsessions in my life. One is music, but i often dont have very much to say about it. Another is various celebrities, both alive and dead. I really enjoy finding out about their lives and collecting many many pictures of them on my computer in little folders. I think all of my friends are sick to death of me talking about them all the time, so i shall use this blog to channel my thoughts and ideas about them.

At this moment in time i really enjoy looking at Edie Sedgwick's life. Ive been into her for well over a year now. I think i like the self destructiveness of the human condition. In my teens i was obssessed with Kurt Cobains life for example. Edie definitely self destructed, perhaps with the help of Andy Warhol but thats irrelevant.

Photobucket

Edie lived from April 20 1943 - November 16 1971 and she was only 28 when she died from an accidental overdose. She was a part of Warhols factory in the 60's and got to hang out with a whole bunch of cool people. I wont go into all of the grim details of her life right now. I just love looking at photographs of her, she has such energy and charisma it is wonderful to see even after all these years. Her style is amazing, long earrings, wearing tshirts as dresses and black opaque tights. iconic. This video is a lovely tribute to her and makes me fall in love with her a little.

She also has a really nice voice, i like hearing her speak. But anyway enough of my Edie love for now. i will post more when i am at home, where i have lots of photos.

Another current interest to me is the style of Alexa Chung. I know shes a tv presenter, and a current London hipster party girl and that she goes out with Alex Turner from the Arctic Monkeys but thats as far as my interest in her life goes. I just purely just like looking at her style. I love how she can wear designer pieces but make them so..... wearable! she is effortless beauty. this is my most recent favourite outfits from her.

elle
This dress is gorgeous. I read on FashionSpot that is was custom fitted Chanel. I LOVE Chanel so i am both jealous and in awe of this dress and Alexa for getting it custom fitted. Her hair here looks gorgeous, she has kept the accessories simple and like i said before, she makes this designer dress look effortless.

Photobucket
This was at the brit awards recently, she is wearing a vintage dress she has cut herself to make the hemline shorter, more to her style. it looks like she has Chanel bag here as well. Now im a sucker for anything blue and anything shiny, sparkly or glittery so this dress is such a win for me. Alot of people on fashionspot and other sites have been criticising the fact her shoes are all scuffed or muddy but i like it. I love those shoes, they are fabulous. she has worn them many times, which is also why i like her style, she wears things more than once!

well thats enough blogging for one day.i need some dinner. till next time. L x
